During a walk in the Polish forests last November, Petro Horlach of the Yaroslavl Historical Research Society discovered a very rare artifact near the village of Korzenytsia: the blade of a copper dagger.
The discoverer reported the valuable find to the restorer of the monuments of Podkarpacie in Przemysl, as well as to archaeologists from the nearby Orsetti House Museum in Yaroslavl. The researchers identified the artifact as an extremely rare 4000-year-old dagger.
The ancient weapon was made of copper and was 10.5 centimeters long. However, compared to other similar objects, this dagger is considered quite large. At that time in history, such metal products were available only to wealthy people.
The dagger from Korzenytsia has already been added to the collection of the Orsetti House Museum in Jaroslav. Starting in June, it will be on display at a permanent exhibition dedicated to the ancient history of the Yaroslavl land.
