5 Il-76 and expensive electronic warfare and radar stations: updated losses of the Russian and Ukrainian Armed Forces according to Oryx
The Russian army lost a significant number of tanks, artillery and a patrol boat. Thanks to the GUR operation, 4 IL-76 aircraft were destroyed and 1 damaged.
After successful drone attacks on Russian air bases, the enemy irretrievably lost 4 Il-76 military transport aircraft. This is reported in the updated Oryx casualty list, where the Russian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are counting their losses based on photos and video.
The Ukrainian military continues offensive operations. During the clashes, 10 T-62M, T-72, and T-90 tanks were destroyed. Some of the cars could not be identified. In addition to the tanks, the military destroyed 7 units of lightly armored vehicles, namely BRM-1K, BMP-1, BTR-82A and Tiger-M armored vehicles.
Counter-battery combat also continues: two 122-mm Hvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, a 122-mm D-30 cannon and one Msta-B howitzer were destroyed. The military also destroyed one BM-27 Uragan 220-mm MLRS launcher and a TOS-1 Solntsepek.
However, it is worth noting the significant losses suffered by the occupiers due to the actions of Ukrainian defenders. The military destroyed it:
- Svet-KU radar station (in service with the Russian Federation since 2012);
- Zhitel electronic warfare station (in service with the Russian Federation since 2008);
- Leer-2 mobile electronic warfare system (in service since 2017).
Thanks to the successful actions of the GUR, 4 IL-76 military transport aircraft were destroyed and 1 more damaged on the territory of Russia. But the enemy also lost a Ka-52 Alligator helicopter at the front. In addition, a ZALA reconnaissance UAV was destroyed. The occupiers also lost 4 Ural and KamAZ trucks.
A UAV strike also destroyed a Project 640 patrol boat, the Tunets. Together with him, they destroyed the enemy landing party.
The Ukrainian military also suffered losses. The list includes 20 pieces of equipment: tanks, UAVs, trucks, and lightly armored APCs, IFVs, and armored vehicles. In particular, the destroyed vehicles included a Leopard 2A4 tank, two Mi-8 helicopters that crashed as a result of the accident, and a Caesar self-propelled gun. However, in the case of the Leopard 2, tank expert Andriy Tarasenko believes that the tank can be restored and can return to service after overhaul.
As a reminder, on September 4, ISW confirmed the breakthrough of the Russian Armed Forces’ defense in the Zaporizhzhia sector. The occupiers’ second line of defense will be weaker.
