LUMTAS-GM anti-tank missile breaks range record by hitting a target at a distance of 16 km

The defense company Roketsan demonstrated the capabilities of the LUMTAS-GM long-range anti-tank missile system. A high-precision anti-tank missile hit a target at a distance of 16 km. This shows that LUMTAS-GM is one of the longest-range ATGMs in the world.

Compared to existing anti-tank guided missiles, Turkey’s LUMTAS-GM now has the longest range among ground-based ATGMs, surpassing the previously leading American, Russian, Chinese and French ATGMs in terms of operational capabilities.

For example, Russia’s Vihor-1 and the advanced version of Kornet can hit targets at a distance of up to 10 km. The American FGM-148 Javelin has a maximum range of 4.75 km, while other analogues, such as the American BGM-71 TOW 2B RF, Chinese HJ-12, and Franco-German Milan-ER, have a range of 3 to 4.5. km.

The LUMTAS-GM guided missile, when launched from a helicopter, can potentially exceed a range of 20 km. Israel’s Spike NLOS is still ahead with a range of 25 km.

LUMTAS-GM, the first missile of the UMTAS-GM family, is a step forward in Roketsan’s capabilities in the field of precision missiles. The UMTAS-GM long-range anti-tank system is a future combat system capable of integrating into various platforms, including onboard, naval and ground systems.

Roketsan’s LUMTAS-GM anti-tank guided missile is launched from a container with four wings that open backwards at launch, which improves the missile’s planning characteristics and increases its range. As for the technical characteristics, LUMTAS-GM weighs 41.3 kg and is 1.72 m long.
