Recently, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration showed the first image of a habitation module that could become the first permanent human base on the Moon. The module is called Multi-Purpose Habitat (MPH).
The “multi-purpose habitat”, which looks like a ten-meter-long cylindrical structure with telescopic supports and solar panels, was developed by the Franco-Italian company Thales Alenia Space. It is working with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and NASA on the Artemis lunar program.
“MPH will mark a historic milestone as the first Italian habitation module to operate on the lunar surface,” Franco Fenoglio, head of human and robotic planetary exploration programs at Thales Alenia Space, said in a statement. “This is a source of great pride for our company, which has the unique technical and organizational capabilities to overcome challenges of this kind.”
