Russian Federation starts equipping Shahed with a new high-explosive fragmentation warhead (photo)

Russia has begun equipping Shahed-136 aircraft with a new high-explosive warhead. It weighs as much as 40 kg.

The photo posted by communications specialist, RER and REB Serhiy “Flash” is a new high-explosive fragmentation warhead used in aircraft missiles marked “Geranium-K”.

Initially, the new BC was mistaken for a thermobaric one, but government services denied this information.

The photo below shows the alleged thermobaric warhead that the media published yesterday and a “standard” high-explosive fragmentation warhead from another downed drone.

“Shahed” warheads marked “Geranium-K” (on the left – allegedly thermobaric, on the right – conventional)

This warhead weighs 40 kg, has a diameter of 31 cm and tungsten fragmentation elements. Currently, it is believed that this warhead was not developed specifically, but was taken from an existing aircraft missile, as it fits into the Shahed-136 in terms of weight and dimensions.

It should be noted that there are currently three conventional types of Shahed-136 used by Russia. The first is an original from Iran with an Iranian warhead weighing 48.5 kg. It is labeled with the Geranium-M index. A similar warhead is also installed on drones marked “Geranium-Y,” which differ in having a Russian navigation system installed on them.

And the drones labeled “Geranium-K”, which have been used since this summer, are equipped with the aforementioned fragmentation warhead. This Shahed also differs from the “old” version in terms of production technology and other details.

Below are high-quality photos of a 40-kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead of a Shahed-136 aircraft missile with the “Geranium-K” marking:
