The Norwegian bulk carrier Strinda was hit by a missile in the Red Sea, with a fire on board.
This was reported by J. Ludwig Mowinckels Rederi, which owns the vessel.
Reportedly, on the night of December 11-12, a cruise missile was fired at the civilian cargo ship Strinda, according to preliminary data, from Yemen.
There were no casualties as a result of the attack, but a fire broke out on board.
The ship remains underway, heading for the nearest safe harbor.
The UK’s Maritime Trade Operations Directorate also stated that it had received a report of an incident involving a vessel in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, about 24 km from the Yemeni port of Mokha.
On December 9, Yemen’s Houthi armed group, which controls the western part of the country and its capital, announced that it would block the passage through the strait of all ships from any country heading to Israel.
