Poland shows new Rosomak APC with advanced combat module (photo)
The General Staff of the Polish Army showed the appearance of the new version of the Rosomak APC. For the first time in history, the armored personnel carrier was equipped with a remote-controlled combat module ZSSW-30. The 21st Rifle Brigade was the first among the units of the Polish Armed Forces to receive the new vehicles in the amount of five units.
According to the General Staff, the new Rosomak is designed to combat fortifications and armored targets. It can also be used for infantry fire support.
The ZSSW-30 module was developed by engineers from a consortium founded by WB Electronics in cooperation with HSW. It was armed with a 30-mm automatic gun Mk.44S. It can be used to fire programmable munitions. In addition to the gun, the module is equipped with a twin Spike-LR ATGM system.
The development of the fire control system for the combat module was undertaken by the defense manufacturer WB Electronics. It was equipped with stabilized sights with thermal imaging cameras manufactured by PCO, a laser rangefinder and an SSP-1 Obra active defense system.
The ZSSQ-30 module is a direct competitor to the Italian Hitfist-30 tower, which is manufactured in Poland under license. It is the basic one for Rosomak APCs.
