The Russians have developed a very strange defense against UAVs, which is a huge “fan” above the tank
The drawings of the racists have appeared on the Internet, which show that one of the ways to protect their armored vehicles, especially tanks, occupants see a kind of “fan” – the enemy’s patent was drawn to the attention of armored vehicles researcher Andriy Tarasenko (btvt.info).
The idea is to install a fan with an electric motor on a bracket in the rear of the tank’s turret, powered by the vehicle’s onboard electrical system and with steel cables secured by springs and clamps, which should create a kind of “protective circle” around the tank and blow up enemy drones at a safe distance from the tank.
It is not yet known whether the rashists are actually planning to implement this method of defense in practice, in any case, enemy vehicles with such an “upgrade” have not yet been spotted, and in general it is likely that such an upgrade will simply remain “in the drawer.”
In the context of such a new “Wunderwaffe” of the enemy, it is worth recalling the story of the same “grills” that the racists began to weld on their tanks back in 2021, allegedly to protect against Javelin ATGMs and Bayraktar TB2 drones, which looked quite strange at the time.
Later, based on the results of the operation of tanks with “grills” on the battlefield, a number of problems were identified, such as short-circuiting of radio antennas and banal difficulties for the crew to get out of the tank, machine gun operation, etc. However, with the advent of attack drones of various types, especially FPV drones, “grilled” protections for tanks and other equipment have become relevant again, although they do not provide one hundred percent protection against these weapons.
It is quite logical that the above problems will also be relevant for the “fans”, which should be located high enough to ensure normal operation of the machine, but in this case, it will be quite possible for the operators of the same FPV drones to hit an enemy tank, albeit more difficult.
