Russian pontoon bridge goes to Ukraine on the Desna River (video)
A pontoon bridge has floated into Ukraine from Russia across the Desna River, the State Border Guard Service said on Sunday.
“Border guards in the Chernihiv region discovered a large floating object that had sailed from Russia to Ukraine along the Desna River. Border guards in Chernihiv region observed the suspicious structure until it stopped near the shore on Ukrainian territory. It turned out to be a pontoon bridge, which until recently served as a crossing point for Russians. At present, sappers have established that the detected metal structure does not pose a threat,” the statement said.
The Chernihiv region is bordered by the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.
Local media have not recently reported that a bridge has been washed away somewhere in the region, but similar incidents have occurred there many times.
A few years ago, a pontoon bridge collapsed in the Russian border village of Bila Berezka.
