Nvidia CEO says AI will be able to pass any human tests in five years

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, a leading chipmaker, including those for artificial intelligence, recently shared his thoughts on when we can expect artificial general intelligence (AGI) to emerge. Speaking at the Stanford Economic Forum, Guang said that AGI could become a reality in five years, based on certain definitions of the term. He believes that if we evaluate the ability of AI to pass various human tests, we are approaching this goal quite quickly. Currently, AI systems can already successfully pass, for example, legal exams, and Guang predicts that in five years they will be able to pass more specialized tests, such as in the field of medicine, particularly in gastroenterology.

However, on the other hand, Guang noted that achieving AGI could take much longer if other definitions were used. The main problem is that scientists are still arguing about how the human mind works, which complicates the task for engineers trying to create machines that can think like humans.

In addition, he touched upon the need for more chip manufacturing plants, which are essential for the development of the AI industry. According to Guang, while the need for new production facilities is undoubted, it is also necessary to pay attention to improving AI algorithms and computing processes, which will eventually reduce the need for hardware resources. He believes that the efficiency of computing can increase millions of times over the next ten years, which indicates the rapid development of technologies and changes in approaches to their use.
