Starlink is already in Ukraine: how to connect
It will be possible to connect to the Internet from Elon Musk after the war, but you can leave a request now.
Due to the war with Russia in Ukraine, there may be interruptions in Internet connection and problems with network access. Therefore, Ukraine appealed to SpaceX founder Elon Musk with a request to give access to the Starlink satellite internet in Ukraine. The first stations have already arrived in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr.
Starlink is a global satellite system for accessing the internet in hard-to-reach corners of the Earth. It operates through satellites in orbit. Such an internet connection cannot be disabled or hacked. It provides a fast and uninterrupted connection.
When will Ukrainians be able to connect to Starlink
Starlink arrived in Ukraine to operate critical infrastructure in wartime: power plants, military bases, industrial plants, etc.
Ordinary users can also apply for an internet connection, but they are slowly considering it. Most applications will be approved after the end of the war, but some may be lucky right now.
Please note that connecting to Starlink is not free. The internet installation kit costs $500, and the monthly internet fee is $100.
How to connect to Starink
First, you need to leave a request for activation on the company’s website. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and if you are lucky, you will be sent a box by mail. The Starink kit includes a Wi-Fi router, a signal reception terminal, cables, and mounts.
Assemble the terminal according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The antenna can be placed simply on the ground or hung on the roof. When the antenna is secured, connect the cable to it and plug the power cord into the wall outlet. All components of the system are already configured in advance, you just need to insert the cable.
Install the Starlink app on your mobile phone via Google Play or the AppStore. In the app, select your home network name and password. It may take about 20 minutes to connect to satellites. The average download speed is about 100 Mbps.
