The world’s largest amphibious aircraft AG600M has successfully passed the flight test
China continues to work on the creation of the world’s largest amphibious aircraft. It is part of the AG600 family, and the second prototype, designated AG600M, has successfully passed its first flight test.
The China Aviation Industry Corporation, the leading aircraft manufacturer in the PRC, is trying to operate without delays. At the end of August, the first prototype made its maiden flight, and two weeks later, the second engineering version of the aircraft did the same. The tests took place in Guangdong province on September 10.
The flight lasted for 22 minutes. The Aviation Industry Corporation of China said the aircraft performed well during the test. All systems worked without glitches or problems.
The tests of the AG600M will not end there. In the near future, the corporation plans to conduct an additional series of flight tests, in the framework of which the possibilities of taking in and dumping water will be checked. The third test will take place at the end of autumn, and the fourth, which with a high probability will be the last, is planned for early 2023.
The AG600M will hit the market in 2025. However, the amphibious aircraft will be used in firefighting missions as early as 2023.
