The European Union behind the scenes calls on Kyiv to change the format of the ‘single telethon’
German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen says about the preservation of democracy in Ukraine even during the war with Russia. According to the diplomat, all Ukrainian political forces have become patriotic.
European officials are privately calling on Kyiv to change the format of the single marathon on television and give viewers a choice. German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen told about this in an interview with ‘Evropeyska Pravda’.
‘Maybe not publicly, but we talk about these things all the time (about the broadcasting of TV channels, — ed.) with the Ukrainian government. We have a common goal: that Ukraine remains democratic even during the war,’ the diplomat explained.
Anka Feldhusen believes that during the war, all political forces in Ukraine became patriotic
EU countries understand that there is an information war and that is why pro-Russian channels are banned in Ukraine. Due to the fact that not only their broadcasting was restricted, Kyiv has been called on more than once to move to a more open information space.
As an alternative to a single telethon, Feldhusen gave the example of opening different channels.
‘People should have alternative sources of information. It seems to me that all your political forces are patriotic now. Everyone wants Ukraine to win,’ – she continued.
The German ambassador admitted that there were different views, but during the war, in her opinion, everyone became a patriot.
‘And people need to be given the opportunity to choose what they want to watch,’ she told Anka Feldhusen.
We will remind that in May of this year, the Ukrainian TV channels ‘Espresso’, ‘Pryamiy’ and ‘5-y’ were disconnected from the digital air by the decision of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine. The State Intelligence Service explained this step by providing people with true and verified official information about the war with Russia.
