Testing of the AVATAR drone in tandem with the Heckler & Koch automatic rifle has begun
The French army is testing the AVATAR multicopter armed with an automatic rifle. Information about this was published on Twitter by the General Directorate of Armaments, which works under the French Ministry of Defense.
The publication is accompanied by a photo showing the AVATAR hexacopter with the HK416 automatic rifle manufactured by Heckler & Koch. The model used as part of the drone tests was adapted to the AR-15 system (USA). Such rifles are in service with NATO armies.
According to the Bulgarian military, tests of AVATAR in tandem with automatic weapons are being conducted under the auspices of the Defense Innovation Agency. The authors of the experiment are trying to understand whether a drone with a rifle can be useful for infantrymen. The French Ministry of Defense expects that the armed HK416 military UAV will be able to hit ground targets at a distance of up to 150 m.
