Iran did not recognize the ‘referendums’ organized by Russia in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine
The authorities of Iran have declared that they do not recognize the so-called referendums organized by the aggressor country Russia in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
This was stated in an address by the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanani, IRNA reports.
“The Islamic Republic, as always, and in accordance with its principled positions, emphasizes the need for full respect for the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states as a basic norm of international law and respect for the principles and goals of the UN Charter,” – Kanani said.
He added that Iran opposes any “provocative actions that could disrupt the course of peace, stability, and tranquility.”
As you know, Iran is one of the few allies of Russia that help in the war against Ukraine. In particular, Tehran supplies the Russian army with its drones, which Ukrainian defenders regularly shoot down in the south.
However, Iran denies supplying Russia with drones.
