Russian missile strikes on the thermal power station in Kyiv: rescuers showed the consequences of the ‘arrivals’ (photo)

Ukrainian firefighters extinguished two fires on the territory of the thermal power plant in Kyiv, which arose as a result of strikes by Russian troops in the morning of Tuesday, October 18. This was announced by the press center of the State Emergency Service on Facebook.

According to the preliminary data of the rescuers, two people died, another one was injured – she was given help on the spot. At the same time, the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko announced that the number of dead as a result of the morning attack on the capital increased to three.

‘Firefighters eliminated 2 sources of fire. Rescuers are conducting an analysis of rubble and searching for people under it,’ says the message of the State Emergency Service.

123 firefighters and 30 pieces of equipment are working at the scene from the State Emergency Service.

Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine has already officially confirmed that the morning shelling fell on the territory of the thermal power plant. The capital authorities reported that the incident occurred in the Desnyan district of Kyiv, where CHP-6 is located.

During the briefing, the spokesman of the State Emergency Service, Oleksandr Khorunzhy, clarified that in the period from October 7 to 18, more than 70 Ukrainians were killed, more than 240 people were injured, and more than 380 objects were damaged as a result of mass shelling by Russian troops. Among them are not only critical infrastructure, but also civil facilities, such as residential buildings.

It will be recalled that on the morning of October 18, Russian troops launched massive missile strikes on Ukraine, attacking energy and critical infrastructure facilities in various regions. DTEK confirmed that two thermal power plants were damaged during the attack. One employee of the energy company died from his injuries, and six others were hospitalized.

Also, as a result of rocket attacks, Zhytomyr was left without electricity and water supply, and in Kyiv, the Obolonsky district was partially left without electricity.

The Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, warned that Ukrainians should be prepared to cut off heating, electricity and water supply after massive shelling.
