German self-propelled guns that fire high-precision projectiles on the move will arrive in Ukraine (video)
The German government is preparing 155-mm RCH 155 self-propelled artillery units for Ukraine.
The RCH 155 is the world’s first self-propelled gun that can fire while moving. At the same time, the movement of the self-propelled installation has absolutely no effect on the accuracy of the artillery installation. This allows the ACS to be elusive during counter-battery combat by the enemy.
The RCH 155 has a lot in common with the PzH 2000. They share the same L52 barrels, a similar firing range of 40 km with conventional rounds and up to 54 km when using the Vulcano and M982 Excalibur. The RCH 155 can use Smart rounds – fire and forget.
RCH 155 wheeled self-propelled units are manufactured by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW).
This self-propelled gun has a fully automated charging system, the possibility of remote fire control, as well as the possibility of simultaneously hitting one object with 4 shells in a row. The AGM module is unmanned, so there are only two people in the RCH 155 installation crew. The ammunition of the AGM module is 30 shells.
The RCH 155 is based on the GTK Boxer wheeled armored personnel carrier chassis with an 8×8 wheel formula.
The total combat weight of the machine is 39 tons, the weight of the AGM module is 12.5 tons. The car is equipped with an MTU diesel engine of 815 hp.
On the website of the Federal Republic of Germany, it is officially reported that 18 RCH 155 units will be transferred.
