The Kremlin is believed to have exhausted its supply of Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones and was forced to turn to Tehran for new help.
Russia has resumed drone strikes against Ukraine, likely using a new batch of UAVs from Iran. This is stated in a new report of military intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense dated December 9.
For the first time, data began to appear in the media that Russia is using Iranian one-way attack (OWA) drones when carrying out attacks on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
Intelligence emphasizes that this information should be checked again. At the same time, intelligence sources suggest that Russia has exhausted its supply of Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones and received new military assistance from Iran in the form of One-Way Attack (OWA) drones.
‘On December 7, 2022, Ukrainian officials reported the use of OWA UAVs provided by Iran, the targets of which were the Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The last report of downed Iranian Shahed in Ukraine came on November 17. If the information is confirmed, Russia has probably resumed attacks with recently delivered OWA UAVs,’ the United Kingdom intelligence report said.
A few days earlier, the German publication Die Zeit reported that Russia will receive a new batch of weapons from Iran. According to journalists, the Kremlin is buying hundreds of new drones and ballistic missiles to conduct hostilities in Ukraine.
The Reuters agency, for its part, wrote that some Western countries demand that the UN send experts to Ukraine to study the wreckage of downed Iranian kamikaze drones. Inside the United Nations itself, according to journalists, criticism of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is intensifying, as Iran soon wants to send new drones and missiles to Russia.
