The Armed Forces received American ‘radar simulators’ to deceive Russian pilots
The Pentagon handed over to the Armed Forces special equipment designed to mislead the pilots of combat aircraft. General Charles Brown, who holds the position of Chief of Staff of the US Armed Forces, told Aviation Week journalists about this.
The military noted that the Ukrainian army received Threat Emitters from the Ministry of Defense. These are special antennas imitating the operation of anti-aircraft radar systems. Pilots of Russian planes will think that Ukrainian anti-aircraft installations are on their course. Thus, it will be more difficult for the occupiers to detect real SAMs.
According to Brown, the operation of ‘radar simulators’ will allow the Armed Forces to maintain the potential of the air defense system. Inexpensive emitters were originally created for training American pilots at test sites. The Pentagon leadership decided to test this equipment in Ukraine.
The general compared the transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine of ‘radar simulators’ with the delivery of HARM anti-radar missiles. At one time, they allowed the Armed Forces to destroy many S-300 complexes, which the occupiers had concentrated in the southern part of Ukraine.
