Bayraktar Akinci tested the MK-83 aerial bomb with the GÖKCE guidance kit
Baykar continues to use the Bayraktar Akinci unmanned aerial vehicle for weapons testing. Recently, we wrote about how a drone launched a supersonic missile, and even earlier it used a TOLUN bomb for the first time. Akinci has now tested the GÖKCE guidance kit.
Tubitak SAGE presented the 2021 GÖKCE guidance kit. It consists of wings and a tail unit, which allows the bomb to maneuver in flight. This technology resembles the American development of the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), but uses a laser for guidance instead of GPS.

The laser guidance head is installed in the front part of the bomb. The MK-83 aerial bomb weighing almost half a ton was used as part of the test. Bayraktar Akinci illuminated the target with a laser and destroyed it from a height of 6 km.
The guidance kit is compatible with other Turkish drones: Kizilelma and Aksungur. GÖKCE can also be installed on BRU-57 bombs for the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters.
