The Turks have trained the Barkan tracked drone to launch Mete mini-missiles

Engineers of the Turkish company Havelsan installed the Roketsan missile system on the Barkan combat robot on a tracked chassis. Barkan drones will enter service with the Turkish army this summer. Currently, the manufacturing company is busy conducting field tests.

From the video posted on Havelsan’s Twitter account, it follows that the tests of the missile system in tandem with the tracked drone were successful. The Barkan rocket hit the static target the first time. 40-mm Mete missiles are capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 1 km with an error of one meter.

Technical characteristics of Barkan:

  • Weight: 500 kg.
  • Speed of movement: 12 km/h.
  • Autonomy of work: 8 hours.
  • Equipment: thermal imager, electro-optical station, ballistic computer and gun platform SARP-L.

In addition to the Roketsan missile system, the tracked drone can carry machine guns (5.56 or 7.62 mm) on board. It can be used to provide radiological, biological and chemical protection, bomb disposal, intelligence gathering, cargo transportation, mapping and more. So Barkan is a multi-tasker.
