Lockheed Martin випробувала 50 кВт лазерний комплекс ППО

Lockheed Martin engineers managed to get the ‘first light’ on the air defense laser complex. The defense giant plans to install such complexes on Stryker armored vehicles. They will be used to destroy mines, helicopters, UAVs, missiles and shells.

The power of the laser beam of the complex is 50 kW. During the tests, the company’s engineers were able to confirm its quality, as well as check its end-to-end performance. The laser is based on the ‘revolutionary and inexpensive’ SBC architecture.

The above architecture is already used by Lockheed Martin in the HELIOS and HELSI serial combat lasers. Late last summer, the Navy began installing 60 kW HELIOS laser installations on warships. As for the 300 kW HELSI lasers, they were developed by Lockheed Martin specialists for the ground forces. Thus, for the American army, modern laser weapons have long managed to become a reality, which cannot be said about the armies of other countries of the world.
