The Council of Ukraine exempted imported drones, thermal imagers and walkie-talkies from taxes
Before the adoption of the laws, night vision devices, UAVs and collimators were imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid. Currently, they can be imported as commercial goods.
The Verkhovna Rada generally supported draft laws N8360 and N8361-d, which provide for the exemption from VAT and customs duties of drones, thermal imagers, collimators, walkie-talkies and night vision devices. This is reported on the official website of the parliament.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy, clarified in his Telegram channel that walkie-talkies were additionally added to draft laws after the appeal of volunteer organizations.
331 parliamentarians voted for legislative initiative No. 8360, 326 voted for No. 8361-d.
According to the people’s deputy, the adopted laws allow express shipping of the above goods, and also remove all bureaucratic restrictions on their import. He emphasized that the documents were developed together with volunteer organizations.
‘These draft laws provide for a complete exemption from taxation of goods imported into Ukraine, namely unmanned aerial vehicles, walkie-talkies, thermal imagers and scopes,’ said committee chairman Danylo Hetmantsev, who became one of the initiators of the changes.
He explained that earlier such equipment could be imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid, but now it can be imported as commercial goods. At the same time, it is exempted from export control.
The draft laws also provide that registration of such goods when crossing the state border and passing customs control will take place as a matter of priority.
The changes were approved until January 1, 2024.
