T-62 tanks are being modernized at the 103rd Armored Repair Plant in Atamanivka, Trans-Baikal Territory. The upgraded combat vehicles have been fitted with modern thermal imagers, laser rangefinders, additional modules of multi-layer hull armor, dynamic Kontakt protection and anti-stimulus screens.
According to the Oryx website, the 2022 T-62M received an updated fire control system, which should increase the efficiency of the 2A20 (U-5TS) 115 mm Molot gun. After modernization, this gun is capable of firing long-range guided missiles.
Of course, all the data about the tank’s “improvements” are taken from the Russian so-called media, and as usual, they can be highly exaggerated.
