The US Air Force sent four B-52H nuclear bombers to the island of Guam

The US Air Force has deployed B-52H Stratofortress nuclear bombers to the island of Guam. This was reported by the command of Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.

On March 30, 2023, 210 pilots and four strategic aircraft arrived on the island of Guam, which is located 2000 km from Taiwan. The aircraft will be based at Andresen Air Force Base.

The B-52H Stratofortresses of the 96th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron will perform tasks in support of Pacific Air Forces training activities, which also involve allied and partner forces. The mission will help the pilots focus on the full range of military operations.

The deployment of B-52Hs to the island of Guam will not only allow the crews to hone their skills. The arrival of the strategic bombers at Andersen Air Force Base will be an extremely important signal demonstrating the United States’ readiness to help allies in the Indo-Pacific region. This was stated by Lieutenant Colonel Vanessa Wilcox, commander of the 96th Bomb Squadron.

It should be added that at the end of last month, two B-52H nuclear bombers together with Japanese fighters visited the area in the Sea of Japan where Russia tested P-270 Mosquito missiles (NATO codification SS-N-22 Sunburn). The launches took place on March 28.
