Ukrainian Armed Forces continue operations on Dnipro islands in Kherson region – ISW
Military researchers believe that Ukrainian forces are trying to expand their presence in the Dnipro River area. Geo-located footage that appeared on May 2 shows Ukrainian forces raiding the port of Kherson.
Ukrainian forces continue operations on and around the islands in the Dnipro Delta in Kherson region. This was reported by the Institute for War Studies in a report on May 2.
Geolocated footage published by a Russian source on May 2 shows a raid by Ukrainian forces in the port of Kherson. Military researchers believe that attempts to expand the presence of Ukrainian forces on the islands continue.
The scale of these Ukrainian positions remains unclear, and there is no information about their purpose. Still, ISW does not equate this activity with counteroffensive operations.
On May 3, Russian forces shelled the Epicenter hypermarket in Kherson. There were people in the building, and there were casualties and injuries. Among the dead were employees and customers of the commercial organization.
ISW analysts also named the reason why Prigozhin lied about the murder of the commander of Ukraine’s terrorist defense forces. Such statements of Russian propaganda, including reports of massive shelling of Pavlohrad, are intended to slow down the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, according to the American think tank.
It was also reported that Russia has stopped its offensive in many areas and is preparing for a counterattack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to British military expert Michael Clarke, Russian troops may even retreat slightly from the western bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, the Russian troops stationed there will not be cut off in the event of a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian army.
