Explosion in Crimea: 5 railroad cars overturned near Bakhchisarai as a result of a railway explosion (photos)

According to media reports, about 50 meters of railroad track were damaged. It is reported that 8 railroad cars with grain derailed near Chistenke station.

On May 18, an explosion occurred in Crimea. As it turned out, a railroad was blown up on the occupied peninsula. This was reported in the telegram channel Baza.

“The explosion of the railroad took place near Bakhchisarai. As a result of the sabotage, several train cars derailed,” the authors of the content wrote.

Later they added that the explosion occurred in the Simferopol district at 8:20 am. However, another telegram channel Mash reported that the explosion on the railroad tracks occurred earlier – at 7:45 am.

Media outlet 112 wrote that the incident occurred at Chistenke station.

Later, the authors of the content added that sappers are checking the tracks and repair crews are starting to work on restoring the road.

“2 passenger trains have been delayed, trains have been temporarily canceled. No one was injured,” the post says.

Baza shared photos from the scene and said that the explosion damaged about 50 meters of the railroad and created a “large sinkhole.”

“In total, 8 cars went off the tracks, 5 of them overturned,” the authors of the content wrote.

The incident was confirmed by a representative of the occupation authorities of Crimea, Oleg Kryuchkov. He reported on social media that the movement of electric trains was temporarily stopped on the Simferopol-Sevastopol stretch.

“Passengers will be delivered to these stations by bus. We will inform you about the resumption of traffic additionally,” he said.

As a reminder, on May 7, a representative of the occupation authorities of Crimea reported an attack of 10 drones on the peninsula. According to him, the UAVs were allegedly launched by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and all of them were shot down by air defense forces.

Today, May 18, explosions were heard in the Kursk region. Local governor Roman Starovoit said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly dropped an explosive device on a sports and recreation center in the village of Glushkovo.
