Video of a “minor fire” at the Afip oil refinery appears

Officially, the Russian authorities say that the fire covered an area of 10 by 10 meters, but in reality the situation is quite different.

The extent of the damage to the Afip oil refinery in the Krasnodar region of Russia, which was attacked overnight today, May 31, may be much greater than the one declared by the Russian Federation.

Officially, Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratiev reported that the attack by a single drone covered only 100 square meters and damaged “one fuel oil distillation unit.” That is, the fire was in an area with approximate dimensions of 10×10 meters.

In reality, however, the picture looks quite different, as evidenced by a video made by a local resident. It should be noted that earlier videos had already been published online, but they were taken from a greater distance and did not convey the true scale.

The location of the video is quite easy to geolocate – the car is moving along the E115 highway in close proximity to the refinery itself.

At the same time, the scale of the fire and the fact that it was production facilities, not storage facilities in the form of tanks, that were affected directly indicate an extremely effective attack. Moreover, according to local authorities, there is only one kamikaze drone.

It should also be recalled that the 90th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade, which has a design capacity of 6.25 million tons of oil per year and was invested $1.7 billion in reconstruction in 2019, was supposed to cover this plant, which has Buk-M3 missiles and is located right next to the enterprise.
