Lockheed Martin unveils AGM-158D missile with a range of 1,930 km
Lockheed Martin is developing an ultra-long-range, precision air-to-ground missile. This is an improved version of the AGM-158D. It will be tested in the United States in the near future.
The JASSM missile has been in service with the US Air Force since 2009. Its flight range is 370 km. The JASSM-ER missile has an extended range. It can hit targets at a distance of 997 km. Lockheed Martin engineers are working to double the range of the JASSM-ER. Thus, after the modernization, it will be able to hit targets located at a distance of 930 km from the launch site. By the way, the weight of the AGM-158D is 2,267 kg.
The JASSM-ER’s precision routing and guidance ensures that it hits targets accurately at any time of day or night and in any weather conditions. The GPS navigation system of the ultra-long-range missile is reliably protected against enemy electronic warfare. The AGM-158D is aimed at the target using an infrared head.
