Battle for Bakhmut: Ukrainian Armed Forces resume offensive to encircle the city, – Ukrainian Major

On June 5, Ukrainian forces resumed their offensive in Bakhmut. This was stated by Major Maksym Zhorin of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on his Telegram page.

According to him, the main goal is to surround the settlement. Despite heavy fighting, the 3rd Brigade continues to recapture new territories from the occupiers. We already have the first results.

“Ukrainian forces are now in a position where they can move forward and achieve success,” he said.

According to Zhorin, after making some progress, the Ukrainian Defense Forces needed time to regroup, as the Russians began to move reserves and build up their defenses.

Currently, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces major, Ukrainian forces are also fighting regular Russian troops. Every forest belt is hard fought.

“But are Ukrainian units ready to sweep away anyone in their path? Yes, they are,” said Zhorin.

As a reminder, ISW stated in its June 5 report that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are advancing in several areas. According to analysts, the Ukrainian army has achieved tactical successes during counterattacks in the south of the country and has made significant progress in the Bakhmut direction.

In addition, the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, showed how the drone army near Bakhmut is coping with the equipment of the Russian Armed Forces. According to him, the destruction of the enemy continues, and Ukrainian defenders are advancing.

Also, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had advanced 1600 meters near Bakhmut. According to her, the soldiers of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of troops are conducting offensive actions in several areas on the eastern front.
