Russian occupants claim that Ukraine struck at Chongar bridge between Kherson region and Crimea

On the night of June 22, the Russian occupiers reported an explosion on the Chongar Bridge near the temporarily occupied Crimea. Russians blame Ukraine for this

This was reported by Kherson collaborator Volodymyr Saldo, according to Espresso.

“The criminal Kyiv regime carried out a barbaric shelling of civilian objects – bridges on the administrative border between Kherson region and Crimea near Chongar,” said Saldo.

He also added that in this way Ukraine “wants to intimidate the residents of the Kherson region and sow panic among the population.”

According to him, the strike was allegedly carried out by a British Storm Shadow missile. The road surface on the bridges was damaged, but there were no casualties.

According to the so-called head of the peninsula, Sergey Aksyonov, explosives experts are conducting an examination of the bridge to assess the type of ammunition, and specialized services have begun to inspect the roadway.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Crimea, as reported by the Russian media, traffic flows between Crimea and Kherson region have been reoriented.

“Due to the damage to the roadway on the Chongar Bridge, traffic flows have been temporarily reoriented to the Armyansk and Perekop checkpoints. These checkpoints are operating normally,” the ministry said.

It is also noted that the buses that were going through the Dzhankoy checkpoint were reoriented to the Armyansk checkpoint.

The Chongar Bridge crosses the Sivash Bay on the Novooleksiyivka-Dzhankoy stretch. In 2014, in response to Russia’s occupation of Crimea, the Ukrainian government ordered the replacement of the old and new bridges on the Ukrainian side.

On April 25, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Chongar Bridge was mined, but the Ukrainian military was confronted by forces that outnumbered them 15 to 1. Earlier, information was spread online that Chongar was allegedly mined on the eve of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
