Utility debtors may be prohibited from registering cars

If the proposed draft law is passed, a person will be checked for debts for utility services when registering a vehicle.

The draft law aims to simplify debt repayment for honest debtors. The Verkhovna Rada is also considering restrictions on car purchases for other categories of people.

The Verkhovna Rada has registered a draft law that would prevent utility debtors from registering cars when they buy them. This was stated by the former head of the Tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Nina Yuzhanina.

The Government’s draft law No. 9363 “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Digitalization of Enforcement Proceedings” provides for a ban on car purchases for certain categories of persons. In particular, debtors for utility services may lose this opportunity.

During the registration of the vehicle, a check will be carried out to determine whether the buyer is in the Unified Register of Debtors. If this information is confirmed, this person will be banned from registering a car.
