Ukrainian Defense Forces Capture Modernized Russian T-72B3 Tank of 2016 Model Year

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have added to the list of trophy military equipment. The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura” captured a T-72B3 tank made in 2016.

What is known

A video of the captured main battle tank was posted by Sergeant Valeriy Markus. Judging by its appearance, the T-72B3 was not damaged. The tank was captured in Zaporizhzhya region, where the 47th Brigade is conducting an offensive.

The 2016 T-72B3 is one of the latest modernizations of the Soviet T-72B tank, which was introduced in 1985 as a variant of the T-72A combat vehicle with the 9K120 guided missile system, Kontakt dynamic protection, and B-84 powerplant.

The 2016 model tank is equipped with anti-stimulus shields and the Relict modular dynamic protection system. The combat vehicle is equipped with a 2A46M-5-01 gun, a V-92S2F power plant and an automated transmission.
