Ukrainian Defense Forces Capture Relatively Rare Russian 2C5 Hyacinth-S Self-Propelled Gun
Another Russian self-propelled gun has entered service with the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The Ukrainian military managed to capture 2S5 Hyacinth-S.
A video showing a captured 2C5 Hyacinth-S self-propelled gun has been posted on social media. Now it will fight on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against its former owners.
The 2C5 Hyacinth-S is a Soviet self-propelled howitzer capable of engaging enemy targets at a distance of up to 33 km. It is equipped with a 2A37 152 mm semi-automatic cannon and a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun.
The combat vehicle is equipped with a power plant with a capacity of more than 500 horsepower and can reach a speed of more than 63 km/h. The tracked chassis has a range of approximately 500 km.
The 2C5 Hyacinth-S can be called a relatively rare Russian gun. According to Oryx, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 25 self-propelled guns. We wrote about the liquidation of two of them today. At least six Hyacinth-S units were seized earlier.
