The United States could send a second batch of M142 HIMARS highly mobile artillery missile systems to Syria
In May, a number of publications reported that the United States had deployed M142 highly mobile artillery missile systems in Syria. Currently, Mehr News reports that a new batch of HIMARS has arrived in the country.
The United States could have transferred HIMARS to the Syrian Democratic Forces. They control the northeastern and eastern regions of the country, where at least 900 U.S. troops are currently stationed.
M142 HIMARS are a reliable means of defense, as they are able to provide a rapid response to emerging ground threats. The highly mobile artillery system can use high-precision shells and ballistic missiles with a maximum launch range of almost 300 km.
In the spring, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the transfer of an unspecified number of M142 HIMARS to its allied forces in Syria. CENTCOM has not yet commented on the arrival of a new batch of missile systems in the country.
