The Russian Federation may lose a customer willing to buy Su-35 fighters. The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces opposes the purchase of fourth-generation aircraft.
This was announced by the Commander of the Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi. The main reason is that Russia refuses to transfer technologies that would allow Iran to establish the production of aircraft components on its territory.
Tehran plans to maintain Su-35 fighters for the next 30 years. At the same time, the Russian government does not want to share the information necessary for this.
Hamid Vahedi said that the Russians want to sell only 25 Su-35 fighters without full service, support and weapons. Previously, these planes were intended for the Egyptian Air Force, but the African country abandoned the deal due to the threat of sanctions.
