Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the latest Buk missile system and radar of the racists, there were beautiful fireworks (video)
This shows how close to the front line the enemy is forced to bring its air defense systems
The Commander of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, showed a video of the combat work of one of the units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which ended with the spectacular utilization of an enemy air defense system.
In this video, we can see how our soldiers practiced on the missile launcher for the latest Russian Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system and on the 9S18M3 target detection radar that operates as part of this system. First, the radar station was hit, then the TOW, and the secondary detonation from the missiles’ explosion produced incredibly bright fireworks.
It remains unknown what munition was used to destroy these targets. But there are at least two points that are significant here.
The first is how close the racists have to bring their air defense assets to the front line, and thus expose themselves to the means of destruction currently available to the Armed Forces. The second is how important is the pace of destruction of the racist SAMs in order to “clear the sky” for the work of our drones, which in turn will ensure the necessary efficiency of the Armed Forces artillery to destroy the Russian occupiers.
This was probably the first Buk-M3 destroyed by our soldiers during the full-scale war against Russia. In any case, according to conservative estimates by Oryx portal analysts, the destruction of Russian SAMs of this type has not been recorded so far.
As early as 2021, Russian propagandists claimed that their Buk-M3 had “anti-missile” capabilities and shot down more than 90% of all missiles fired (though without specifying which missiles they were). But it seems that these characteristics were at least exaggerated.
It is known that the 9K317 Buk-M3 complex includes a 9S510M combat control center, a 9S18M3 radar, up to 12 9A316M launchers (each capable of carrying up to 6 anti-aircraft missiles), and up to six 9A317M self-propelled guns, and 9T243M transport and loading vehicles. The declared range of the target is from 2 to 70 km.
The 9C18M3 radar can detect targets at a distance of up to 160 km, and is essentially the “eyes” of the Buk-M3 system. There is no publicly available data on how many radar stations of this type the Russian army has. However, given that the Buk-M3’s serial production started only in 2016, it is clear that the 9C18M3 radar is a rare model for the Russian army. By this point, according to conservative estimates by the Oryx portal, the Rashists have lost at least one 9C18M3.
