The combat module has passed the final tests and will soon be mass-produced for the Turkish Navy and its allies.

UNIROBOTICS, a part of the production group of the Turkish military industry giant Samsun Yurt Savunma, has completed successful tests of its TRAKON TARGAN remote-controlled machine gun tower, Defense Here reports. This system was presented at the IDEF 2023 defense industry exhibition in Istanbul.

The TRAKON TARGAN autonomous remote-controlled machine gun is specially designed for naval vessels as a short-range defense weapon system against air and surface targets such as drones, boats or kamikaze boats. The combat system is equipped with a 12.7×99 mm heavy machine gun and can also be equipped with a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher (MK-19).

After successful tests, the combat system will be put into mass production. The TRAKON TARGAN will be integrated into a Hisar-class maritime patrol vessel built by ASFAT as a subcontractor to HAVELSAN.

According to the developers, TRAKON TARGAN has excellent capabilities for surveillance, reconnaissance and target tracking without pointing the gun axis at the tracked object using a high-tech electro-optical module built into an independently stabilized gimbal.

The TRAKON system can also be integrated into 4×4 vehicles, which are the lightest members of the military tactical vehicle family. Due to its lightness and design, the combat system is easy to integrate into vehicles.
