In defense on the “Surovikin line,” the Rashists will also use mobile armored groups from various branches of the military

After the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated the village of Staromayorske in Donetsk region on July 27, 2023, images appeared in the public domain, which allow us to assert that during the battles for this settlement, the occupiers lost a significant number of armored vehicles of various types that belonged to the motorized rifle and airborne assault troops of the Russian army.

This also demonstrates that in repelling the Ukrainian counterattack, the Russians rely not only on fortifications and huge minefields, but also on mobile armored groups from various branches of the military. OSINT analyst Naalsio posted the images on his Twitter page.

Based on the available images, we can say that at least 4 T-72 and T-80 tanks, at least three BMP-1 and BMP-2 vehicles, at least two BMD-2 and BMD-4 vehicles, and two damaged MT-LB and MT-LBVK vehicles remained on the battlefield in Staromayorske.

At the same time, it should be taken into account that the Russian military could have evacuated some of its damaged equipment that may still be suitable for repair or as “spare parts donors” to its rear. And also, that not all enemy equipment destroyed or damaged during the battle for the village of Staromayorske could have been on social media footage. Therefore, the actual losses of Russian armored vehicles during the battles for this settlement could be much higher.

According to some reports, the Russian army command involved units of the 136th separate motorized rifle brigade and the 247th airborne assault regiment in the battle for Staromayorsk.

Based on the above, we can assume that when the Ukrainian Armed Forces move to the stage of storming the Rashidist fortifications in the South, also known as the Surovikin Line, the Rashids will rely not only on minefields and extensive fortifications, but also on maneuverable reserves supported by armored vehicles.

Earlier, Defense Express told you about the importance of the liberation of Staromayorske village for the further success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive in the South.
