Tesla’s security system allowed the toy to use the unmanned Full Self-Driving mode (video)
The beta version of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) autonomous driving system in Tesla cars has allowed a teddy bear to drive the car.
Tesla cars with the FSD package are equipped with software that prevents the driver from using self-driving mode if he or she is not watching the road. However, the AI Addict YouTuber was able to fool the security system with a variety of inanimate objects, including balloons with faces and soft toys.
To fool a Tesla camera, all you need to do is put a teddy bear in the driver’s seat. AI Addict claims that it managed to drive on a closed road for 10 minutes, after which the test was completed ahead of schedule. The car was unable to detect the toy behind the wheel.
The experiment also involved a mannequin of a child crossing the road. Each time during the test, the unmanned Tesla hit a theoretical pedestrian while a toy was driving.
The test results were confirmed even with a balloon. The car activated the unmanned mode without any problems and hit the child’s dummy over and over again.
