Ukraine to receive 42 US fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters after pilot training

Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Netherlands. The topic of the visit was the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets that Ukraine needs.

Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte confirmed that the Ukrainian Air Force will receive F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from the Netherlands and Denmark. The shipments were approved by the U.S. State Department earlier this week.

On Twitter, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces that an agreement has been reached on the number of fighter jets to be transferred to Ukraine. Thus, after training pilots and technicians, Ukraine will receive 42 fourth-generation aircraft.

Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk said earlier that two pilots would be able to master the F-16 Fighting Falcon in four months, focusing on the use of weapons rather than piloting. The training has already begun.

Ukraine has begun preparing the infrastructure for the arrival of F-16s. One plane was able to visit Ukraine and land earlier. Now the specialists have to improve the runways and create additional defensive fortifications at the airfields.
