Bulgaria is ready to transfer about 100 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine
In July, it was reported that Bulgaria could transfer Soviet armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. This has now been confirmed by the country’s defense minister at a joint briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart in Odesa on August 22.
According to the minister, Bulgaria is ready to transfer about 100 APCS-60s, but the agreement will have to be ratified by the country’s parliament before the equipment can be transferred. If all goes well, deliveries could begin in late September or early October. The equipment is now in the warehouses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
By the way, instead of BTR-60, Bulgaria may receive American M1117 armored personnel carriers.
The BTR-60 is a Soviet armored personnel carrier with an 8×8 wheel configuration. It was developed in 1956-1959.
