On Thursday, August 24, former US President Donald Trump went to prison after being charged with criminal offenses. Trump was photographed and registered as a prisoner.
It is worth noting that in all three previous cases of Donald Trump’s arrest, his photo was not taken.
So, this episode made Trump the first president in US history to have a prison photo.
Trump himself also posted a photo from the prison on his Twitter account, accompanied by the caption: “Attempted election interference! We will never give up”.
This was his first post on Twitter since January 2021. Thus, Trump broke his promise not to use the social network.
What is known about the court cases against Trump
Several cases have been filed against former US President Donald Trump, including charges of paying $130,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels. In April, the Grand Jury found him involved in the payment.
Trump is also charged with 37 counts in the case of “secret documents” found in his estate. For this, he faces 20 years in prison.
On August 24, he arrived at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta to surrender. He was arrested in connection with allegations of attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 Georgia election.
Trump was initially held in prison, but later it became known that he was released on bail. He spent about 20 minutes in the detention center.
