Ukraine and Russia are fighting around Boyko’s towers in the Black Sea – British intelligence
Ukrainian and Russian naval and air forces are fighting for strategically important gas and oil platforms in the Black Sea between Crimea and Odesa – the Boyko Rigs.
This is stated in a new report by the British Ministry of Defense.
The agency notes that these platforms not only “control valuable hydrocarbon resources” but, like Zmeinyi Island to the west, “can also be used as forward deployment bases, helipads and for deploying long-range missile systems.”

The intelligence agency noted that last week a Russian warplane fired at a Ukrainian military small boat that was in the area of the so-called “Boyko towers” in the northwest of the sea. In turn, the Ukrainian military shot down an enemy aircraft.
The British Ministry of Defense notes that after a full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, Ukraine struck several Russian-controlled platforms. Both Russia and Ukraine have periodically occupied them with troops.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian drilling rigs Petro Godovanets and Ukraina (better known as Boyko rigs) were seized by Russian troops in March 2014 and worked for Russia.
