Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has submitted his resignation to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He posted the photo on his Facebook page.
“Pursuant to the decision of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, I have submitted my resignation to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. I am ready for the report. Let’s keep the line!” Reznikov wrote.
He also posted a photo of his resignation letter, dated September 4, addressed to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk. In his statement, Reznikov said that he had fulfilled key tasks as Defense Minister.
“The defense ministry has implemented procurement reforms and adopted automated troop management systems. A set of digital transformation measures is being implemented, and synergies between structures working for victory have been ensured. Thus, in 22 months, the key tasks that were identified when I was appointed to the post have been completed,” the minister said in a statement.
“In this regard, I ask the Parliament to accept my resignation. (…) I would like to inform you that I have submitted a corresponding statement to the President of Ukraine, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” Reznikov concluded.
As a reminder, the day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced his intention to replace Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov. Rustem Umerov, head of the State Property Fund, may head the Ministry. Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the Voice faction, also said that Oleksiy Reznikov could be appointed ambassador to the United Kingdom.
