Massive Russian attack on Ukraine on September 6: air defense forces destroy 8 missiles and 15 “shaheds”
On the night of September 6, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian territory with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 23 air targets
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is noted that the enemy fired a total of 33 air targets, namely 7 air-launched missiles of the X-101/X-555/X-55 type, one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 25 Shahed-136/131 attack drones.
Instead, the air defense forces were destroyed:
- 7 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles;
- Iskander-M ballistic missile;
- 15 attack UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type.
“Air defense was operating along the route of the missiles and drones. Anti-aircraft missile troops, fighter aircraft, mobile fire groups and other means of destruction were involved in repelling the air attack,” the statement said.
Missile attack on Kyiv and the region
The head of the KCIA, Serhiy Popko, said that on the morning of September 6, Russians launched a combined attack on Kyiv. Earlier, from the Saratov region, they fired cruise missiles of the X-101/555/55 type from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft. At the same time, another type of missile, probably a ballistic missile, was launched at the capital.
All enemy targets moving toward the capital were destroyed by air defense forces and means. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties or damage in Kyiv.
The State Emergency Service reported that a fire broke out on the territory of a commercial enterprise in Kyiv region as a result of the fall of enemy missile fragments. The fire has been extinguished. No casualties were reported.
UAV strike in Odesa region
The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said that on the night of September 6, Russians attacked Izmail district with attack drones for almost three hours.
An employee of an agricultural enterprise was killed and seriously injured. He died in the hospital.
Destruction and fires were reported in several settlements. Port and agricultural infrastructure facilities were damaged, including elevators, administrative buildings, and agricultural enterprises.
