Which students are threatened with mobilization – the Minister of Education gave an answer
Mobilization in Ukraine will be mandatory for men aged 30 and older who have entered a university and are pursuing inconsistent higher education, according to draft law No. 9672, which has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi emphasized the importance of education not being just an imitation and a loophole. He emphasized that education can be relevant at any stage of life, and entering a university should not be just a formal act to get certain benefits and bonuses.
“Today, we have a tendency for people to use university enrollment as a legal, but still dishonest, way to avoid mobilization,” noted Lisovyi.
The Minister notes that the draft law No. 9672, which has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, should regulate this issue. It allows mobilizing students over the age of 30 who are pursuing a second higher education.
Mobilization of students over 30
According to the proposed amendments contained in this draft law, the deferment of mobilization does not apply to men who are over 30 years old and simultaneously enroll in an educational institution to obtain inconsistent higher education.
Which students will not be mobilized
“Instead, the deferral will be maintained for male students who have not yet reached the age of 30 and are pursuing a consistent education, as well as for teachers working in educational institutions (at the main place of work at least 0.75 rate),” the Minister of Education said in a statement.
