Poland and the EU agree to produce shells for Ukraine
Poland has signed a “framework contract” with the European Defense Agency (EDA) on joint purchases of 155-mm ammunition for Ukraine.

The framework contract does not yet contain any details, but the signing of the document means that EU countries can now place specific orders at Polish plants.
The Polish government has approved an agreement on the supply of ammunition between the Armaments Agency and the PGZ-AMUNICJA consortium, which includes, among others, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, Zakłady Metalowe Dezamet or Mesko.
The agreement is the first stage of an order for hundreds of thousands of 155 mm artillery rounds and, given the needs of the European and global markets, provides for export.
Currently, the countries are in the process of placing orders, on the basis of which the EDA will prepare bulk orders from European industry. By the end of September, after collecting the orders placed by individual EU countries, the European Defense Agency will send the first concrete implementations.
The orders will mainly concern the production of 155 mm ammunition. Polish arms factories will receive specific orders at the end of September.
