Aselsan presents Tolun mini-bombs for UAVs with a range of 110 km
Turkish defense manufacturer Aselsan has designed guided mini-bombs for UAVs. Tolun and Tolun-IIR high-tech ammunition was presented by the company along with a multi-locking intelligent pylon from the Sadak series.
The development of the Tolun bomb was based on the American GBU-39 SDB. It weighs 135 kg. The corrected munition is guided to the target using an inertial system and satellite navigation.
If a bomb is dropped from 12 kilometers, it will fly about 110 kilometers due to planning. The Tolun mini-bomb can only be used to hit static objects. Aselsan engineers have developed the Tolun-IIR bomb to defeat moving targets. It is equipped with a thermal imaging guidance system.
Tolun-IIR supports two-way radio communication. Thanks to this, it can transmit images from the GNSS to the media. This approach allows an aircraft pilot or drone operator to manually select targets for attack.
The circular deviation of the mini-bomb does not exceed one meter. Thus, it belongs to the class of high-precision weapons.
