Samsung will present a smart ring Galaxy Ring
In January, Samsung is going to present new devices, and this year’s star may not be the new Galaxy S24 smartphones. Samsung may open a new category of wearable devices – rings. The device is tentatively called Galaxy Ring.
According to an Ice Univerce insider, it looks like Samsung has high expectations for this new product line. He says that the Galaxy Ring will be the star product of the event, possibly outshining the Galaxy S24 series itself.
Although the Unpacked events for the S22 and S23 series took place in February, there were also launches in January. And we’ve already seen detailed leaks about the Galaxy S24 series, so a launch a little earlier seems quite possible. As for the ring, it remains to be seen whether it will be ready in time.
Samsung is reportedly ready to start mass production, but things are going slowly due to additional regulatory approvals required for the health tracking product.
It is expected that Ring will synthesize the health-oriented features of the Galaxy watch, but will not have most of the features of a smartwatch. It is unclear whether the ring will even have a display.
The Galaxy Ring’s less obtrusive form factor can attract a wider audience – people who prefer classic watches or don’t want to wear a watch at all, but still want to monitor their sleep, heart rate, and physical activity. And if Uce Univerce is right, it will be more than a ring-shaped smart bracelet, it will be Samsung’s next big thing in wearables. Speaking of smart bracelets, Samsung seems to have abandoned this segment.
